Saturday 31st March
Country Rock at its finest The Ugly Guys are coming to Whelnetham Community Centre. The group has been going for a few years now and have carved themselves a good reputation in the South and East. Lead Singer Paul Shuttleworth and his Ol’ Buddy, Vic Collins on pedal guitar may be better known for their part in a band that was famous back in the mid 70’s that had a hit, that still gets air time today, Little Does She Know, a song that put the Kursaal Flyers on the scene back then Paul was Lead singer and Vic played the guitar and sung vocals in the group.
In recent years Paul and Vic got back together and along with lead guitarist Steve Oliver, drummer Bob Clouter and bassist Andy Farrell, formed the Ugly Guys, released albums including, The Road goes on forever and Truckers, Kickers & Cowboy Angels, and now enjoy playing gigs all over the South East and London, venturing up to Ipswich a few times to appear on the Stephen Foster Show on the BBC, and to make a few appearances at other big events around Ipswich.
Now its Whelnetham’s turn to play host to the group just for one night – so don’t miss out on this opportunity. The current line up includes:
- Paul Shuttleworth – lead vocals;
- Vic Collins – pedal steel, guitar and vocals;
- Steve Oliver – guitars, banjo, mandolin and vocals;
- Andy Farrell – bass and vocals;
- Bob Clouter – drums.
If you want to just sit and enjoy the music or get up and dance, it all adds up to a evening of great entertainment.
