A134> after months of comments it appears that we can expect resurfacing work to begin on Sicklesmere Road. Will be interesting to see if it gets completed to a good standard this time, with emphasis on the term completed as over 5 weeks ago the A143 just outside Wortham was resurfaced but it has been left with a temporary road surface and temporary 30mph speed limit ever since. There doesn’t appear any additional activity taking place on this stretch of road which is now devoid of all road markings (they didn’t bother to resurface a small stretch adjacent to a side road junction- probably to preserve the road markings for it, but they did mange to resurface part of the lay-by where they parked their vehicles). Now when it rains, the accumulation of surface water is such that the tyres of vehicles in front cause small ripples to snake along the surface, definite aquaplane potential here that wasn’t there before. One has to ask what on earth Suffolk County Council are doing with respect to overseeing and monitoring the quality and standards of work being carried out, and why they are not responding to people when they report issues that are of concern to them.
It does seem that the Management within County Council believe they are not accountable to anyone but themselves. I pity the poor Councillors who are trying to get local issues addressed on behalf of their constituents because it must be a frustrating uphill struggle to get even the slightest bit of cooperation or even achieve acknowledgements that there are problems and significant issues that affect the rural communities that demand the same level of attention and priority as those that occur in towns. We may pay our Community Tax but rural communities don’t seem to be able to get the same level of service as those who live in the town.
